Unlike some other reproductions of classic texts (1) We have not used OCR(Optical Character Recognition), as this leads to bad quality books with introduced typos. (2) In books where there are images such as portraits, maps, sketches etc We have endeavoured to keep the quality of these images, so they represent accurately the original artefact. Although occasionally there may be certain imperfections with these old texts, we feel they deserve to be made available for future generations to enjoy.

I ordered this book for my homeschooling child. The formatting is all wrong in this book. I ordered it 3 times (twice from Amazon and once from another book seller and all of the books were the same. For one thing there were many footnotes on each page, mid-page and not at the bottom where they belong, and some of them referenced maps and illustrations where there were none, ever. I think the printer made a huge error on this book.Product details

The Beginner American History Montgomery D H David Henry 9781318835751 Books Reviews
It is what it says it is, just a basic History book. I've always hated history and flunked out of it in school but recently I've been interested in giving it another go. Can't beat the free price...)
I like this book but it does not have page numbers. We're using it with a homeschool curriculum and I need to be able to reference page numbers. I've written them in pencil but it's not coordinating with our curriculum. Is this a mistake that can be corrected? Thank you.
Reading to my 4th nad 6th grader. Enjoying this supplement with our other history books!
Excellent for anyone but especially for those not well versed in American history; American adults and youth, recent English speaking immigrants, etc. No revisionist or politically correct history here, thank goodness. Highly recommended.
This book is incredibly racist. Native Americans are referred to as savages, Christopher Columbus is portrayed as a hero, etc. We purchased this as part of our daughter’s history curriculum but within the first few chapters she told us the language made her uncomfortable. I read the book and was appalled at the wording used to describe Native Americans. Look into the Usborne series for history books or Story of the World if you are looking for historically accurate books.
While the content of this book is ok.. the layout is very confusing.. there is no table of contents in this edition and the layout/writing is very confusing for a child as the topic/chapters are not clearly indicated.. The edition that has been updated by John A. Holzman (published by Avyx ) is a much better choice
The version sold on (w/Statue of Liberty) in a poor excuse for the book (w/ old Amercian flag) I needed to teach children history. Both versions have the same text, but very different formatting. The version from has no page numbers, headings, maps, pictures, table of contents, or index. I am giving it one star because they refunded my money.
